COMPOSITION
1 gram of powder contains:
Oxytetracycline hydrochloride ……………………………… 200 mg
Excipients: Citric acid monohydrate, Lactose monohydrate.
PHARMACOTHERAPEUTIC ACTION
Oxytetracycline is an antibiotic from the tetracycline group produced by Streptomyces rimosus that acts bacteriostatically against Gram-positive bacteria (Actinomyces spp., Baccilus anthracis, Clostridium perfrinigens, Clostridium tetani, Listeria monocytogenes, Nocardia) and Gram-negative bacteria (Bordetella spp., Brucella, Bartonella, Haemophilus spp., Escherichia coli, Pasteurella multocida, Salmonella choleraesuis, Shigella, Yersinia pestis, Yersinia pseudotuberculosis), mycoplasmas, chlamydia, rickettsiae and protozoa in animals, as well as against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria (Aeromonas salmonicida, Aeromonas liquefaciens, Pseudomonas fluorescens, Yersinia ruckeri) that can cause various diseases in fish. It acts by blocking protein synthesis in the bacterial cell.
TARGET SPECIES
Pigs, foals, calves, lambs, kids, rabbits, mink, dogs, cats, poultry (broiler chickens, hens, turkeys, ducks, geese) and fish
INDICATIONS
The product is recommended for the control (in herds where the diagnosis has been confirmed) and treatment of diseases caused by oxytetracycline-sensitive germs in pigs, foals, calves, lambs, kids, rabbits, mink, dogs, cats, birds (broiler chickens, hens, turkeys, ducks, geese) and fish.
Pigs: enzootic pneumonia, bacterial enteritis, arthritis and rubella.
Foals, lambs, kids: bacterial enteritis, respiratory infections, omphalitis, arthritis.
Calves: secondary infections associated with viral pneumonia, bacterial enteritis, arthritis, calf diphtheria, omphalitis.
Rabbits and mink: bacterial enteritis.
Dogs: secondary infections associated with hepatitis.
Cats: feline infectious anemia and secondary infections associated with feline panleukopenia and feline influenza.
Poultry (broiler chickens, hens, turkeys, ducks, geese): fowl cholera, avian typhus, infectious coryza, infectious sinusitis, infectious synovitis, non-specific diarrhea, mycoplasmosis, staphylococcal arthritis, pseudotuberculosis, coliform septicemia and secondary infections associated with infectious bronchitis, chronic respiratory diseases, infectious laryngotracheitis, fowl pox.
Fish: erythrodermatitis, swim bladder infections in carp and furunculosis in trout.
DOSAGE, ROUTE AND METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION
The product is administered orally, in feed or drinking water, as follows:
Pigs: 50-150 g product/100 l water (10-30 mg oxytetracycline hydrochloride/kg b.w.), or 0.5 – 3kg product/ton of feed, once a day, for 5 days.
Calves, lambs, kids, foals: 1-1.5 g product/10 kg body weight (20 – 30 mg oxytetracycline hydrochloride/kg body weight). It is administered daily in feed or drinking water, for 5 consecutive days.
Dogs, cats, rabbits, minks: 2.5 g product/10 kg b.w. (50 mg oxytetracycline hydrochloride/kg b.w.), divided into 2 doses, for 5 consecutive days.
Poultry (broiler chickens, hens, turkeys, ducks, geese): 50 -150 g of product / 100 l of water (10-30 mg oxytetracycline hydrochloride / kg gc) or 1 - 2 kg of powder for one ton of feed (20 - 40 mg oxytetracycline hydrochloride / kg gc), once a day, for 5 consecutive days.
Fish: 20 - 30 g of product / 100 kg of fish, daily. For adult fish, the product is administered in a single dose and for fry, the product is administered in 2 doses. The product can be administered in the feed or locally in the tank. For the treatment of fry, mix 100 g of well-homogenized product in the form of a paste with 50 kg of granulated feed (pellets). Adults and fry can be treated for 4-8 days or until the clinical signs subside. To ensure proper dosing, the body weight of the animals should be calculated as accurately as possible to avoid underdosing the product. Intake of water or feed is dependent on the clinical condition of the animals. Therefore, to obtain the correct dosage, the concentration in drinking water or feed will need to be adjusted.
CONTRAINDICATIONS, PRECAUTIONS AND ADVERSE REACTIONS
Do not administer orally to adult cattle and horses. Do not administer 3 days before and after vaccinations with live bacterial vaccines. Do not administer in case of hypersensitivity to the active substance or excipients. Do not administer to foals whose meat is intended for human consumption. Avoid administration to animals with gastric ulcers and ulcerative colitis. Administration of the product to ruminants may cause a change in the gastrointestinal flora. These phenomena are transient and reversible. Throughout the treatment, animals must drink only medicated water and consume only medicated feed. During the osteogenesis process, tetracyclines can cause yellowing of the teeth, dental pigmentation, and caries. Concomitant administration with penicillins and cephalosporins should be avoided. Tetracyclines should not be overdosed due to intestinal dysmicrobism, nephrotoxicity, and negative effects on calcification. It is not associated with corticosteroids, penicillins, beta-lactams, cephalosporins, streptomycins, erythromycins. There are no restrictions during lactation, gestation or laying.
