Exoderil solution, 20 ml, Sandoz

Properties:
Properties and mode of action: Exoderil is an antifungal agent for external applications. The active substance of the product is naphthifine. Naftifine is active against dermatophyte skin localized fungi, e.g. trichophyton, microsporon and epidermophyton species), yeasts (Candida species, Pityriasis versicolor), fungi (Aspergillus species) and other fungi (eg Sporothrix schenkii). In the case of dermatophytes and Aspergillus species, naphthifine is a fungicide in vitro. In the case of yeasts, naphthifine is either fungicidal or fungistatic depending on the type of strain involved.

In addition to its antifungal action, naphthifine also has antibacterial activity by acting on a wide range of gram-positive or gram-negative microorganisms that frequently occur in association with the fungal condition. From a clinical point of view, naphthifine has also been shown to have an intrinsic anti-inflammatory action, which leads to a rapid reduction of inflammatory symptoms, especially pruritus. Because it penetrates rapidly into the skin and is present in persistent antifungal concentrations in various layers of the skin, Exoderil can be administered only once a day in local applications.

indications:
Exoderil is indicated for: fungal infections of the skin or skin folds (Tinea corporis, Tinea inguinalis); interdigital mycoses (Tinea manum, Tinea pedum); fungal nail infections; skin infections with candida; pityriasis versicolor; inflammatory dermatomycoses (with or without pruritus).

Composition:
1 g of cream contains: naphthaphine hydrochloride 10 mg and benzyl alcohol as a preservative 10 mg. 1 ml solution contains: naphthifine hydrochloride 10 mg and propylene glycol 50 mg.

Method of administration:
To be administered in local applications only at the level of the skin or nails.
Dosage: Exoderil is applied topically once a day to the affected area and neighboring areas after they have been cleaned and dried beforehand. To prevent recurrences, it is recommended that Exoderil be administered for at least another 2 weeks after clinical cure.

Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to naphthifine or to benzyl alcohol (preservative). Pregnancy and breast-feeding: There is no known effect of Exoderil on the unborn child if the product is used properly. Teratogenesis studies did not reveal any embryotoxic effects of naphthifine.

Side effects:
Sporadic, there may be signs of local irritation such as dryness, heat and erythema. Side effects are always reversible and do not require discontinuation of treatment.

Special warnings:
Avoid contact with eyes
