Pure DHA Childlife Essentials, 90 capsules, Secom
Properties:
Maintains normal brain function.
Effects and benefits:
DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) is an important fatty acid for the development and normal functioning of the brain of the fetus, young child and throughout life. DHA is an essential component of human cell membrane phospholipids. In the first year of life, the brain triples in size. DHA is one of the two main essential fatty acids in fish oil, known as Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids. Polyunsaturated fatty acids are called essential because they cannot be synthesized by the body and must be brought in by external intake. The highest concentration of fatty acids is found in the phospholipids of the retinal cell membrane (50-60%), nerve and myelin (nerve fiber sheath). The brain is composed of 60% fat, 30% of which is DHA.
